All errors and updates are listed below.  Please note we only list changes that were published after the "FIRST PUBLIC RELEASE", which was build 011.  Corporate customers with site licenses might have different editions of the book with chapters not available to other customers.  The reason for this is explained on my web site.

Build 036: 2008-11-09

bulletChapter 12 - described the Health Check Monitoring File.
bulletChapter 38 - added section "Miscellaneous OEM Agent Commands".  This stuff was already in the book, but very hard to find. Also, see the new Chapter 43.
bulletChapter 41 - all the stuff related to Oracle Text was organized into this new chapter.
bulletChapter 43 - all of the miscellaneous utility commands like emctl, srvctl, and crsctl were consolidated into this one chapter.  If I didn't know where else to put it, then it went into Chapter 43.
bulletThe following sentences were corrected:

OLD: at the instance level. You can activate a different resource plans on each instance.
NEW: at the instance level, and you can activate a different resource plan on each instance.

OLD: Suppose you have three databases named ALPHA and BETA ...
NEW: Suppose you have two databases named ALPHA and BETA ...

OLD: If level 1 does not any resources at all ...
NEW: If level 1 does not use any resources at all ...

OLD: suppose you want all instance except MARK4 ...
NEW: suppose you want all instances except MARK4 ...

OLD: Repeated the above steps to create all of your additional groups.
NEW: Repeat the above steps to create all of your additional groups.

OLD: To activate plan go to the Resource Plans page ...
NEW: To activate a plan go to the Resource Plans page ...

bulletIn chapter 20 added notes on sample schemas BI, HR, IX, OC, OE, PM, and SH.
bulletIn chapter 35 the section "Parameters" was moved out of the discussion of Import and then updated to note which parameters are used with Export, Import, or both.

Build 034: 2008-03-02

bulletIn Chapter 7 added overviews of Oracle Streams and Oracle Data Guard to the section "Description of Core Features and Options".
bulletIn Chapter 15 were it stated "Oracle does not support SSL to the database when using a JDBC Thin driver", this is only true for Oracle 10.1 and earlier.  A new feature of Oracle 10.2 is support for SSL connections over JDBC Thin driver. Good luck meeting all pre-requisites and setting it up correctly.
bulletIn Chapter 17 "Solaris" the operating system requirements were updated, and we documented the process of listing and adjusting the maximum number of processes on Solaris.
bulletIn chapter 18 "init params" we added notes and tips to the following parameters: COMPATIBLE, SGA_MAX_SIZE, and SGA_TARGET.  The description of LOG_BUFFER in Oracle 10.2 was clarified.
bulletIn Chapter 29 "Flashback" added descriptions of all standard directories found in the FRA.  Actually these are notes pulled together from various other parts of the book, but now it is a lot easier to get the info.
bulletCorrections to discussion of schemas WK_TEST and WKSYS.
bulletCorrections in the chapter on Migration pertaining to Oracle Streams.
bulletClarifications in the discussions of private and public database links.

bulletThe section on GATHER_TABLE_STATS was updated with more examples.
bulletThe section on GATHER_INDEX_STATS was formatted as Heading 4 but it should have been Heading 3.  This was corrected.

Build 031 - 2007-07-17

Build 030 - 2007-07-01

bulletIn chapter 2 the examples for creating database links contained hidden characters that prevented you from copy/pasting them into SQL*Plus.  This has been fixed.
bulletIn chapter 11 documented the Oracle background processes PSPn and FMON, and the Oracle-supplied background process FMPUTL.  Also provided a table that illustrates when each of the most common background processes are spawned during the startup process; this information was consolidated from other chapters.

bulletIn chapter 26 "The Recycle Bin" updated the section "Clearing the Recycle Bin".
bulletIn chapter 30 the description of the DBA and RESOURCE roles did not mention the fact that granting these roles to a user implicitly granted the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE system privilege.  Now it does.

Build 029 - 2007-04-20

bulletThe PDF file's properties says Build 026.  Please update to correct build number.
bulletIn the section "Flashback Database Log Files" added a quick formula for estimating storage space requirements.  The only formula provided by Oracle requires that you already be using Flashback Database for a while, and let Oracle calculate running averages.  My new formula assumes you are not yet using Flashback Database and therefore cannot use Oracle's formula.

bulletIn chapter 16 (Windows Issues) updated the certification status for Microsoft Windows Vista.
bulletIn chapter 18 (init params) the discussion of init.ora parameter LOG_BUFFER was split into two sections for 10.1 and 10.2, because starting in 10.2 Oracle auto-sets the parameter.

bulletIn the chapter on DataPump, the examples at the end of the chapter were clarified and expanded upon.  Also, added notes about taking consistent exports in DataPump, and added notes about the fact that tablespaces do not get imported from full exports when using schema-level imports, causing many imports to fail.

bulletTypos in description of Solaris 10 projects.
bulletThe example on page 1014 said "dev" was the local (target) database.  It should read local (source) database.

bulletThe chapter on DataPump makes more clear how to use the NETWORK_LINK parameter.
bulletCross-references (hyperlinks) were added on the first page of each chapter.  These links go to the top-level sections in the chapter.  However, these links are only useful in .DOC files, not PDF files.  This is due to technical limitations of our PDF generation software, PdfFactory Pro.
